Kidz Zone:
Child care while you work out! The Kidz Zone is open and free to all members while they are in the YMCA. Care is children age 8 weeks to 11 years old. Infants up to 6 months of age are welcome to stay for one full hour of play and socialization. Children ages 7 months to 11 years old are welcome in the program for up to two hours per day. All children participating in the Kidz Zone program must have an information packet on file along with a copy of their most recent shot records.

The Learning Center:
The Learning Center Preschool Program now has full- day and half-day options. The full-day program serves children ages 2 - 5 and starts at 7 a.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m.. The half-day program serves children ages 3 -5 and starts at 9 a.m. and ends at noon. Both the full-day classroom and the half-day classroom use the nationally recognized Creative Curriculum to guide lesson planning and project development. Children in the preschool classrooms participate in swimming, walks to the park, field trips and other exciting activities in addition to classroom projects and activities that stimulate curiosity, exploration and persistence.

For inclement weather the YMCA Learning Center follows the schedule set by the City of Cheyenne, State of Wyoming and Laramie County School District #1.
Before and After School Program:
The Before School program is held only at the YMCA site. It is for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. The program opens at 6:45 am for parents who need a place for their children before school. The YMCA staff transports these children to school every morning.
The After School part of the program begins immediatley after school. This program has grown over the years and is now available at the YMCA and at 4 schools throughout Cheyenne. For children who attend the After School program at the YMCA, YMCA staff transport the children to the YMCA. Children at all 5 sites participate in organized activities or work on homework. There are tutors available to assist the children with their work. The program closes at 5:30 pm at all 5 sites.

Summer Day Camp:
Child care during the summer months is available. Before and After School participants are given the opportunity to pre-register, and then the remaining slots are opened to the public. Organized activities are planned and out of building activities are scheduled for each week of the camp. Campers often go to movies at the movie theatre, bowling, swimming, and make multiple trips to the many different parks throughout Cheyenne.
The cost of the camp for the summer of 2010 is $130 per week for members and $175 per week for non-members.

Early Release & No School Days:
On regular weekdays when school is not in session, the YMCA provides child care to all the children who are enrolled in the Before and After School Program at the YMCA site. Organized activities are planned and an out of building activity may also be scheduled. There is no additional cost for these days.
Holiday & Spring Break Day Camp:
Child care is available for your school-aged child during the Laramie County #1 school district's holiday break at the YMCA site only. Before and After School participants at the YMCA site are given the opportunity to pre-register, and then the remaining slots are opened to the public. Registration forms can be obtained from the Membership Services Desk at the YMCA. Organized activities are planned and out of building activities are typically scheduled for each camp. In the past campers have gone to movies at the Capitol Theater, bowling, and swimming in our very own pool. Camps are held for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring Break.
NASA Summer of Innovation Camp

July 5 - 30, 2010
A free, fun learning experience about climate change and energy is open to any interested Cheyenne student entering 6th grade through 10th grade in the fall. The camp will take place at Laramie County Community College,
Monday through Friday July 5th - 30th, 9AM to 3PM.
Students will learn to assemble and install Wind Turbines, build their own weather station with remote monitoring capabilities, and learn how to create and edit their own videos.
Students will also go on an all expense paid weekend field trip to Denver July 9-11 where they will watch Hubble at the IMAX and visit the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, tour Ball Aerospace, the National Center for Atmospheric Research, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
LCSD #1 Transportation Department will pick up the students at designated schools around town and bus them to and from Laramie County Community College. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are also included in the free camp.
