Youth Sports
These programs are for all children, ages 3 through 12 years.  Sports programs run throughout the year.  Registrations are held in advance and end one month prior to the beginning of each sport. Scholarships are available for program fees.  Please check the Mission Driven Programs page for more information or call 634.9622 extension 22 for more information.

Judo

Ages: 6 and over
Children and adults can learn the skills of a judo black belt master.
School Age (age 6 & up)

American Freestyle Karate
Ages: 5 and over
A traditional method of self-protection taught by a certified black belt instructor. Learn how to disarm an attacker using simple self-defense karate techniques.
Monday and Wednesday 6:45 - 7:45 pm for beginners

Tumbling
Tiny Tots - Parent and child play time with movement exploration. Saturdays at 9 am

Tumbling Tykes - Self movement exploration taught in a fun environment. Saturdays at 10 am

Tumble Weeds - Learn tumbling skills, roll overs and body movement. Saturdays at 11 am

T’ai Chi
This class for adults is a Chinese system of slow meditative physical exercise designed for relaxation and balance. Take this class to improve fitness and enjoy a mind, body and spirit experience.

Summer Sports and Fitness Camps


Cross Country
Learn basic running skills, pace, stride, stretching and safety. Meet with instructors in a half day format.
Grades: 6th - 8th
August 2, 4 and 6 at Holliday or Lions Park
Full Member: $55

Fitness
Learn nutrition guidelines, active lifetime sports, set fitness goals, assess fitness level, participate in fitness classes, and create a daily fitness plan.

Y-Rompers t - ball Camp
Learn age appropriate skills in throwing, catching, and batting skills for America’s pasttime.

Learn the game that was invented at the Y! Learn dribbling, passings, shooting, tactics, games and drills

More Youth Activities:

Racquetball
Available to youth ages 16 and older unless accompanied by an adult.  The racquetball court is available on a first come first served basis or is available on a reservation sheet at the Membership Services desk.  Racquets may be checked out to players who take good care of the equipment.  Free to Members.

Adventure Guides
YMCA Adventure Guides is for parents or other significant adults in children’s lives and their children ages five through nine. An adult and child must attend program activities together as a pair.
In YMCA Adventure Guides, the parent is the Guide, and the child is the Explorer.
YMCA Adventure Guides programs appeal most to fathers and sons or fathers and daughters.

Birthday Parties Galore

Book your child’s birthday party at the YMCA. We take care of everything!
Early reservations are essential!
Saturday and Sunday only
Up to 20 of your child’s friends are invited.
Prices quoted are for 12 children.
Parties include party favors, cake, drinks, pizza, settings, balloons!
Parties over 20 people are considered group rentals.

Leaders Club

We are introducing the Leaders Club to the Cheyenne YMCA. Our goals are:

  • Provide teens opportunities to develop leadership skills
  • Develop commitment to volunteerism
  • Learn goal setting and achievement
  • Help teens understand the importance of education

    Orientation Dates:
    May 5 at 7 pm
    May 12 at 7 pm

Teens plan their own activities.

Saturday Day Camp- O-Zone Center

Ages: 5-12
O-Zone Center is a fun program for children on Saturdays. Limited space available. O-Zone Center is based on our day camp program. Activities include games, crafts and swimming. Attend O-Zone where children have the opportunity to do just about anything! Registration required. Bring a lunch swimsuit and towel.
Saturdays 9 am - 3:30 pm
Fees: $9 per child per Saturday (prior weekly registration required)
$54 per session (6 week session)

Stranger Danger Classes

Ages: 3 and over
This program is designed to help children learn self defense by role playing, educational videos and technique instruction.
Monday, Wednesday from 5:45 - 6:45 pm
Fees:

Full Member: $60 per session
Non- member: $90 per session

Supersitters Class

Supersitters classes teach the fundamentals of baby sitting and are scheduled with the school calendar on no school days. Each participant will receive a certificate of participation, a bag of information and something to have fun with the children you babysit. Registration required.
Next class is May 15 from 9 am to Noon

Teen Program
Held at Carey Junior High School
Monday - Friday from 2:35 - 5:30 pm
Open to all Cheyenne teens ages 12 -16

Youth Wellness Center Orientation
Learn to use resistance training machines and cardiovascular equipment. Youth must be at least 5 feet tall and 12 years of age to register.  Youth must attend a 90 min class.
